The cities of the north are the engine room of my country, where stuff gets done, things get made and it's where I spent most of my life. Leeds has produced significant creative talent as well as commercial success, which is reflected in its architectural mix of 19th century industrial and retail heritage such as the many wharf buildings, Victoria Quarter and the Corn Exchange, and continues in the 21st century modernist structures and ever-developing skyline.
