Restorative Break at Hotel Endsleigh

Last week I took a break from the endless design commissions that I'm working through this winter, and headed to the Hotel Endsleigh: a magical, luxurious hotel on the edge of Dartmoor, where I took part in a restorative yoga retreat.  The Hotel Endsleigh is also one of my clients, and part of the award winning Polizzi Collection so I was delighted to be able explore the hotel and its grounds at my leisure.

The Hotel Endsleigh was built for a duke in 1810 in the Scottish Baronial style of architecture, which is one of my favourite styles.

I love the granite rock structure and fortress like style, which is complemented by glowing candlelight and an amazing array of antiquities and art. Each bedroom includes wooden "Do Not Disturb" signs decorated with my artwork :-)

I took tea in the library each day with other fellow yogis and taking time out of my hectic schedule to be in this comfortable and quiet space was just the tonic I needed this long, wet, winter.

We also did amazing breath work with Charlie Polizzi as well as walking on Dartmoor, despite the wild weather.  This bleak and barren land is so beautiful, dotted with babbling brooks, wild ponies and lichen covered rocks and trees.

I've already booked for next year. It's so wonderful to be able to go on holiday within a couple of hours of my home. No airport queues, flight anxieties and currency navigations ... just trundling along Devon's beautiful albeit flooded and pot holed roads for a while and a deep, restorative break awaits :-)
