This Christmas I managed to escape to Egypt, just before the UK locked down ... again. I had booked myself on a week's yoga retreat in the Sinai peninsular, but as soon as I got into my first downward dog, I pretty much knew that I wouldn't be going home in 7 days. With uncertainty on return flights, our homes in the UK turning into prisons, and the country in floods (of tears if nothing else) I decided to stay until 2021. Hello Dahab!
Three to four hours of yoga a day is bringing me much peace and stretching my body more than I could have ever imagined. Headstands, plank after plank and plenty of pranayama is making me stronger, calmer and ready for the challenges of my Covid riddled country back home.
Whilst I was here I discovered that my series of Colouring In eBooks had been shortlisted for a national award: Gift of the Year in the Technology category! 10 Cities that Rock the World, 10 Capital Cities that Rule the World, 10 Cities that Made Britain Great and It's Great Up North, all celebrating cities that have made their mark on the world and give the opportunity for people to while away their hours enjoying some colouring in therapy on a dark, dismal day.
My brand has also been shortlisted for the International Gift of the Year too! Most of my artworks are created to commission by a curated portfolio of licensees around the world and turned into a stylish and sustainable range of souvenirs and homewares. I have some amazing partnerships from Australia to America, Japan to Germany and together we create some wonderful products that are sold in museum gift shops, department stores and beautiful boutiques around the world.
Wherever you are in the world, whether you are with family, friends or celebrating this day alone, I wish you peace, good health and happiness for Christmas Day and beyond.
Merry Christmas!
Julia
