Oban Postcard

JG054830

Oban (Scottish Gaelic for Little Bay) is a beautiful town in the Highlands of Scotland, on the banks of the Firth of Lorn. It's a key tourist attraction for people hopping over to the Western Islands of Scotland and is steeped in the ancient history of Scotland, visible through its many castles. My illustration of Oban includes Kilchurn Castle, Dunstaffnage Castle, Dunollie Castle and Castle Stalker as well as Gylen Castle on the Isle of Kerrara.

The area is also teeming with wildlife, and some inquisitive otters are dotted around the coastline by the Bridge over the Atlantic. Over the sea, a couple of dolphins have fun splashing about in the cold northern waters and an osprey soars ahead.

I have a distant memory of visiting Scotland as a small child. I remember it was fresh, cold and went home with a little doll, clad in tartan, which I cherished for years.

Julia's vision of Oban makes a cute and collectable postcard and is also available as a beautiful Art Print for your home.
