Nottingham Greeting Card

I was born and raised in Nottingham. The land of literary giants including DH Lawrence and Lord Byron, the contemporary, creative genius of Paul Smith and generous local hero Robin Hood. It's strange when you go back to the place you grew up. I left at 19 to go to art college and never really went back, which is a shame because it's a fantastic city with so much cultural heritage. My Cityscape of Nottingham is therefore very personal and includes places that are close to my heart. I was a teenage athlete, ran for my county and Notts AC, and Wollaton Park was my training ground so is included in my design of the city. My Saturday and school holiday job was spent working at my dad's sign writing and printing business and so I used to deliver posters to the Theatre Royal, which to me was like a palace. Nottingham Castle is where I first saw art. A retrospective exhibition of the work of local artist Dame Laura Knight. I was spellbound and knew there and then that I wanted to be an artist, and I am.
