Niederrhein, translated as "Lower Rhine", is a region stretching from Bonn  in Germany, through Cologne and ends at the North Sea at the Hook of Holland. Use of the River Rhine dates back to the 1st Century B.C., and in the 2000+ years since, it has been the basis for countless important settlements and events.
