Maryland Tote Bag
Maryland is a beautiful and busy state of America, steeped in military history and literary heritage. The writer Edgar Allan Poe hailed from Maryland and here you can find him in my illustration of Maryland, right next to Clara Barton, founder of America's Red Cross.
Maryland is home to the declining industrial and upwardly culturally rich cities of Baltimore and Annapolis as well as the coal mining city of Cumberland. Battlefields and forts feature in my illustration of Maryland as do the pretty, little lighthouses that dot the shore of Chesapeake Bay, home to the US Naval Academy.
My state scapes are full of symbols that embody the character of each unique region and in Maryland we can find the white tailed deer, black eyed Susan flower, Baltimore oriole bird and calico cat together with the iconic Maryland crab. I couldn't resist adding in a tin of Bay Seasoning, which a friend from Baltimore gave me once and I treasured it for years, spicing up my soups and stews, bringing a little bit of Maryland into my home.
