Manchester lies over the hills from where I have spent most of my life and most of my memories of this great, northern metropolis involves shopping. I do however love its cultural riches, including the Lowry at Salford Quays and the Whitworth Art Gallery. I remember going to Gay Pride in the 1990s and selling my wares on a street stall amid lots of fun and the everlasting Manchester rain. We got soaked to the skin, which is not unusual in this city. My Cityscape of Manchester therefore has to include rain clouds!
