London and the land to the south of the big city, stretching down to the South Coast of England, is a beautiful landscape and home to some amazing buildings, too many of which can fit into my London and The South Cityscape. My illustration of London is therefore a whistlestop tour of some of the iconic landmarks, from ancient buildings such as Westminster Abbey, the Royal residence of Buckingham Palace, stupendous statues (Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square), the ecclesiastical architectural masterpiece that is St Pauls Cathedral and 21st Century sky-high structures of the City and the Shard. The London Eye spins round like a Catherine wheel at the centre of the River Thames and below which lies the rolling hills of the High Weald and South Downs. Bill-on-the-bike (my alter ego and signature cyclist) is cycling along the South Downs, just as I did many years ago as an art student in Brighton! The magnificent Arundel Castle and Royal Pavilion at Brighton make an appearance and William and Harold fight it out in Hastings for the top position in 1066. The Brighton Pier juts out into the sea in which people splash about and a sailing boat bobs about in the bright blue along with a fishing boat.
