Lanzarote Tote Bag

Lanzarote is a magical island, floating off the coast of Africa, bathed by the sunshine and fanned by the warm winds of the Atlantic Ocean. 

The volcanic landscape dominates the island, with the Timanfaya National Park being a major attraction. Tourists ride camels across the weird and wonderful landscape, where yucca and aloe vera grow.  

I love the oasis of Haria, town of a thousand palms, that sits  in a dip below the mountains. There is some beautiful, traditional Moorish influenced, Spanish architecture such as at Yaiza and in Arrecife, the island's capital. The house of Cesar Manrique, the island's artistic hero, is amazing and is on my bucket list to visit.

My illustration of Lanzarote includes the marvellous marine life that swim around the island together with the sailing boats that bob along the sea. Floating in the sea, like an island in itself if the national dish of Lanzarote: Papas Arrugadas... potatoes sauted in their skins with green and red spicy sauce... Mmmm!
