Dortmund is a city in the North-Rhine Peninsula region of Germany. The city's unique architecture reflects the city's turbulent history. Many historic sites had been destroyed during World War II. With only a select amount of buildings such as the ancient churches of Reinoldkirche and Marienkirch being restored or rebuilt, the city underwent a drastic change into architecture of the distinct 1950s style. More modern buildings such as the Opera House (one of the largest in Germany) and the Signal Iduna Park has ensured that the city has remained a hub of culture and sports.  I love the bright colour scheme and simplicity of this design, it exudes a positive outlook that reflects the energy of Dortmund.
