Black Country Greeting Card

JG111140

The Black Country was at the heart of Britain's industrial revolution and remains a thriving, proud industrial region today. Coal mining, glass and steel making may have been replaced with new technology industries but their impact is still visible on the landscape and celebrated in the amazing Black Country Living Museum and Red House Glass Museum, both of which feature in my portrait of this iconic region. Breweries and leather making are also included within the artwork together with the famous anchor, made here in the Black Country, which was pulled by 20 Shire Horses to be hooked up to the Titanic. The TV series Peaky Blinders brought the Black Country to the attention of many and within my artwork celebrating the region, a BC native let us know it's Bostin'. Canals weave their way around the Black Country, linking Wolverhampton with Walsall in the north, Dudley with Stourbridge in the south. Once major transport routes, today they serve as places from which to escape the buzzing metropolis, whether it's on a narrow boat, on foot or on many of the cycle routes that skirt the edge of the multiple waterways.

Julia's vision of Black Country makes a cute and collectable greeting card and is also available as a beautiful Art Print for your home.
