Retail Therapy in Exmouth

Retail Therapy in Exmouth

March 01, 2020

A couple of weeks ago I spent a lovely Saturday afternoon in the company of Pete's Dragons, a charity and lovely retail space in the centre of my home town, Exmouth. The team at Pete's Dragons support families who have experienced loss through the suicide of a loved one.

I recently collaborated with Pete's Dragons on creating an illustration that celebrated the lovely things about Exmouth, including the 2 miles of golden sandy, beach, the wonderful estuary that doubles up as an essential feeding platter for migrating birds from around the world and other local landmarks. Being a recent "Blow In" i.e. someone that's blown in from another part of the world to live in Devon, I appreciate the natural beauty of this region and love living by the sea.

I created a live art canvas, which drew in the crowds to Pete's Dragons and enabled others to reflect on what they loved about Exmouth.  My Cityscape illustrations are a great way of giving people the opportunity to connect with a place that is close to their hearts and holds memories.

Here's the finished artwork and the lovely Louise, who kept me supplied with cups of tea throughout the day ... an artist's fuel!

The artwork has been turned into cool, canvas tote bags, cute tin mugs and marvellous memo pads, which are now available within the store so that Blow Ins, natives and tourists can enjoy more of Exmouth :-)
