Hello Beautiful Bishop Ranch

Last year I was commissioned to create a 27 metre wall mural for Bishop Ranch, a beautiful and peaceful workplace, shopping centre, living space and social area for people in San Ramon, California. I created the artwork in eight sections on my drawing board in England, scanned it in, digitised it and sent it across the pond to California. 

 

It was assembled in the Lakeside area of Bishop Ranch and today, people walk past it every day. In October 24 .... so did I! I was amazed to see such a huge piece of art that I had created, and in such beautiful colour. I love it when my art becomes public and brings joy to others too.

I was at Bishop Ranch for another reason ... to do some al fresco painting at Lakeside.  And I had a fabulous time, sitting by the peaceful lake for several hours, and getting to know the local residents, workers and conference attendees. The hills surrounding the development are beautiful and today I saw them under a cloud covered sky, which were the perfect conditions for painting.

I work with goauche, a chalky water-based paint that's easy to manipulate and won't make a mess in the public spaces where I work! It's like a water colour but with more oomph :-). Take a look at my insta for some videos of me doing my al fresco painting as well as walking the wall!

A part of me will stay in Bishop Ranch, leaving the painting to hang in the offices of this beautiful complex as I head off to Vegas for my next adventure and art gig. Goodby Bishop Ranch for now!
