It’s show time again, which means that I and or my illustrated giftware head off for different parts of the world and present ourselves to retail buyers from every corner of the globe.
This month I hot footed (well lukewarm footed actually due to the train strikes) over to Top Drawer trade show at London to meet with five of my licensees who make sustainable and stylish souvenirs and stationery from my artwork and to see the beautiful booth showcasing my products created by my key British licensee: Judge Sampson.
We launched some new design options for retailers at the show including “24 Hours In … “ which is pretty much your day in a fabulous city such as Edinburgh. I love to think what I would do should I have 24 hours to spend in a certain city and it’s not difficult to come up with ideas when you’re presented with a place as entertaining and enigmatic as Auld Reekie.
It also gives me the chance to catch up with my licensees with whom I collaborate from around the world. Here’s my Australian team: Vevoke with the super Sydney tote bag and rather nice New Zealand mug!
Travelling to trade fairs around the world always gives me an opportunity to revisit the design for the city where it’s held. I therefore set to on what must be my fifth or more version of London. Much loved landmarks, popular tourist attractions and things we love to do when in London, whether it’s Afternoon Tea or taking a ride on a London bus, are all featured on my design, which reveals my love for this iconic city of the world.
