I went to Abu Dhabi at the turn of this century and was wowed by its modernist and ambitious architecture that had sprung out of the desert like a futuristic, manufactured oasis. Having spent time in the Middle East, my heart skips a beat when I see the delicate and delightful minarets reaching for the sky, nestled in between vast glass and metal structures. Abu Dhabi evolves daily, as do all cities around the world and I hope that my illustration captures this ever changing, glittering city of the desert where people promenade along the corniche and camels huddle together at the edge of the desert.
